Movie Review - Mohabbatein

Belated one.
But I just had to write one for this Atul Bedade of a movie, easily the shittiest
thing I watched that summer.
I used to be home, those days.
In my town(??), we use dung cakes for cooking purpose. Not always.
Some ladies are very good at it. They make it round. Put their heart out to shape it. And it looks it beautiful.
And it's a dung cake.
Yash Chopra, is Punjabi. Aware of these dung cakes culture. With Mohabbatein, he has payed the biggest tribute, ever, to dung cakes of North India.
<-The making of Mohabbatein
The movie is round, beautiful. And a dung cake.
Story line is as much irrelevant as Bedade's batting technique. Some 2 cool dudes and and 1 moronic hunk sing and dance around 3 girls, very stupid ones. There is one girl who is 'Dukhi', so avoided looking stupid. Chhuimui si tum lagti ho. She got an exception approval, best I can do is NO COMMENTS.

Below, the hunk Uday and Preety, Chhuimui girl. She used to look this nice.
There is a cleavage showing, big boob booty baby aka school student. Rakhi Sawant just got a better accent. Shamita had the talent to beat her for ugliness.

I never quite understood why SRK did it. Through out the movie, it appears that he is doing a parody of himself.
Mohabbatein, dumb downs the love stories to street crap.

Alright, last 20 minutes had the IQ which the rest of it was lacking. AB and SRK made it good.

World T20- Sonam Kapoor Impresses

Uncle JRod does fine with it. I vicariously enjoy his writing.
India were shit. England were not England. Pakistan were Pakistan. Austraila were Austraila. New Zealand were New Zealand. South Africa were more bull South Africa @ICC shit. Afganistan were brave. Sri Lanka were piss. Bangladesh were Bangladesh. West Indies were improving.

KP was KP, after the lost years (> Ashes 2007).
Gayle was the super cool dude, as always.
Hussy made me angry.
Sehwag, was not there.
Yusuf Pathan, was there. The Same Old Fears.
Bond, was not there, though he was there.
Umar Akmal was indeed there.
Mahela was there. Up there.
Raina was there. I saw him hitting some pull kind of shot, apparently, returning catch to bowler. He got the photographic memory, that one without a film. More awful than Lanky's slogging.
Dada, was again not there ( pull shot?? ).
Afridi, maybe, was there.
Cameron White was there.
Kallis was there, for the purists.
Clarke was there, for the opposition, England.

Steve Bucknor was not there.
Lalit Modi was not there.

Kieswetter has given a new foresight in stupid shot selection technology, pioneered by Rohit Sharma and Umar Akmal.

Moral: England won the wrong world cup, Cricinfo is correct.

What I've felt what I've known

Sometimes I feel more like myself.
And, there is definitely something is wrong with me or may be there is something wrong with everything else.
And, then I doubt myself. Am I what I am? Or is the world not what it is?
I have no idea. Sometime, I feel proud of being what I am. Some other times, I feel I am very stupid. Or at least everyone else is pretty sure that this guy is pretty stupid.
The only thing that I don't like about myself that I try to please people at many times. I must have conviction about whatever I do and I lack that. It sends a whole lot of wrong signals.
I have a very bad judgement about people.
And I just don't get social ques. Whoa..
And here, whatever I don't like about myself, ends. Pretty scary.
But why do I still live despite being so awful and inept. Despite being a total useless thing.
Because I am soo good, adorable.
I have seen a lot of beautiful people. But none beats me. Till this date.
No one I ever met, I found having as much integrity as me. This single thing sets me apart from everyone else on the planet. I am soo good. Money is not attractive. If there is one person to say that, its me. One may feel may be I have not seen that much of money. But I have.
I am intelligent. Not many people beat me, working side by side. I don't have a high IQ. I just trust my common sense. Some do beat me. And, I don't get jealous. I want to work with them, more.
I don't get jealous. I just don't feel it. There are better people and not as good people. Then, why should I get jealous. I don't get it. I just like being part of the crowd.
I love my family. I don't like the pressure they are putting me under these days. And they don't understand me. But, often, they are the people. They love you. And I love them. Nothing beats the leisure of having tea with everyone in the same room and discussing trivialities of life.
I am NON-JUDGMENTAL. Judgemental people put me off. Only God should judge. I don't judge me, other people.

And, I am dead. Just on matrix sort of auto pilot. Occasionally, some one finds my tomb and gets curious what is inside. I see light. Then, they cover me back. No commiserations, they don't even leave flowers after they saw me. I thought they had brought the candle for the peace of my soul.

Short of titles

Big problem. I am short on titles. LOL.
Dilli is doing the dew once again. RCB. I dont understand how could they manage to mess up the selection. Styne is out. Come on. You are kidding.
Well, with players from down under, complextion has changed. Very Awesome Vijay and Bollinger are turning Chennai stock's direction. Dilli will be a very hard from here on. Vettori, Nannes and Yadav, Mishra.
Chargers are done, more or less. Rajsthan was 'full strength' already. If strength is the correct word. Watson and Yusuf. How many games they may win for you?
KKR is dragged down by this season's KKR, KIX Punjab. LOL.
Mumbai is milking everything till now. But, again they could be found wanting if any attack stands up. From here, Dilli and Banglore.
I am very upset with RCB hara-kiri for some time now. No one has outplayed them except they themselves. 80 from 36.

I have this strange feeling that whenever I start believing on God. His Holiness screws me big time. Whats wrong with you man?

'Cricket' yet again

Quotes means sic! (sic!). LOL. You got to get the joke.
Banglore showed why they are 'the most versatile' side. And Punjab need therapy. They managed to loose it. LOL.
Mumbai tops the table. But get it, Banglore are the best side from here. If Sachin fails even twice in a row, you'll see cracks. What actually happening is that Sachin controls everything from the middle, be with a strike rate of 180 or of 120. As long as he is there, do not even think about winning. But again we saw, Symonds could win no more than 2-3 matches for Deccan. So Mumbai is not as 'impregnable' as it seems.
Dilli is back in contention. Thanks to Warner and Collingwood. They are the Pakistan of IPL. If they hit, they will outplay everyone. They can handle Malinga, Styne, everyone. But bowling is their weak link.
Now, Bollinger is coming for next match. CSK. IPL will get real color now as most teams are getting full strength now.
Players from Down Under really improve the quality. I don't think he can do it in test cricket, but Warner is a better bet than Sehwag.
Rajsthan needs to get it. The side is not good enough. Its all 'motivation'. No beef.
On slow and low Motera, they might fight even Banglore. But 'away', they are disappointment.
Banglore and Mumbai are 'in'. Dilli should be in soon. Rest, its pretty much anybody's game except Punjab. I would like to see KKR or CSK. No Rajsthan, please.

Tracks are getting slower. Kallis is losing form, both batting and bowling. Thats a worry. In form Kallis simply sets Banglore far apart.

Hats Off to Google, for the courage...

I am seriously concerned about my frequency of blogging. I talk about what I seriously feel about. Infrequency atleast ensures one thing.Quality :)
Google has pulled out of China. They say Go Daddy and Dell may follow. If they do, its a statement for the whole Industrialization era which has changes the color of mother earth in last 2 centuries.
Running a business has its own morals and values. Profit is sacrosanct. Everything else is discussed in context of Profit. Now, here Google has pulled out saying censoring information is against its Philosophy. Its something only an IT co could have done. Its a new business and people here think somewhat differently than some other core businesses.
Hats Off to Google, for the courage.

This IPL is sort of a festival. Sometimes average cricket. But when Sachin is batting or Banglore is bowling. You can be assured of intensity. This is one more thing I think. So many people do not play their best. Still, culture is building and this season is better than previous season for intensity of teams(exclude KKR n KXIP)
I still feel Banglore seems the best side, though they lost to Dilli. Dilli dared the real Devil. LOL. You go DD.
Call it festive season.IPL season. Its fireworks.

Cricket is a Religion

Well, suddenly I found I am religious. Cricket. Reason: I find the this masquerade T20 cricket against my religion. I don't want to be identified as old- fashioned and I am not. T20 is a very good entertainment. I watch it all the time. I just want to copyright the word 'Cricket' and I don't want T20 to use the word Cricket. Because THIS is NOT Cricket.
Its really painful to see a zombied Styne or Laxman. The good things about Styne is the length and the speed. And, in T20, he goes for runs for the same reason. And to see Laxman trying to slog is really really awful.
In T20 bowlers have been turned into a disrepectful role of serving the ball, not bowling the ball. The contest is between their bats and our bats. And here is the point. Cricket is a contest between their bats against our balls and our bats against their balls. I really really like cricket. Test is the literally the 'test' of individuals and teams. Only good things come through. One dayer also test you if the wicket is made for 250. Not 350.
I am not whining about this. T20 does pull more people. But, this IPL thing has got so many mediocre players and moments. Now, extraordinary battings by Pathans, Haydens is a PR gimmick. They are batting against very ordinary bowlers. RR could not get 19 runs off Zak and Malinga in last 2 overs.
T20 is alright for weekend night entertainment on TV. Movie of the month, week, day, whatever. But don't call it cricket.
Enough 'whining'. Now good things. We got Saurabh Tiwary, Rayadu for Mumbai. Pujara for KKR. and maybe many more. Now in IPL, they get to play world class bowlers. Similarly, there is Nagar bowling for Delhi. Got pace. Bowling to good batters from around the world. That will toughen them up for International Cricket. IPL is still evolving a great deal. And it is set to benefit Indian pool of players.

McComments

Eoin Morgan is busy saving England from so called disgrace of loosing to Bangladesh. Bangladesh are a better team than what most of us think of them. As far as one dayers are concerned. Pietersen has been aweful for, quite a while actually.
India has beaten Pakistan in Hockey. Thats good news. If we win some more matches, Hockey is very much watchable game just because of its speed. Only problem is that, we loose too often.
One more thing, I was right. This Indian team has got a character. Trust me, its better days for cricket. Atleast 3 teams have very good players. Oz, India and SA.
Sachin made 200. he is sort of Lata Mangeshkar. Whatever he does appears so simple that it hides the whole complexity of the thing. You only come to know the difference once some other singer tries to do the same thing.
Its a rarity. We have 2 batters who are redefining the whole game. Completely. Sachin is a benchmark for technique, for attitude. He is the way it ought to be. The Ayn Rand phrase.
Sehwag is the anti-thesis of traditional(sic!) batsmanship. Hardly any footwork. But he has got eye as good as Sachin. Simple philisophy of batting. He plays to his strength. His effect is more than just the number of runs he scores. The ball stops swinging, spinning, bouncing. It just comes to his bat.
The assault he puts leaves deep scars for the bowlers. He is a warrior. His sword chops you if he gets his way. Its blood. Listen to what Murali spoke after the series. He kiiled Murali.
Sachin is different. He is the lover. The sheer beauty of his stroke making enthralls spectators, fielders as well as bowlers. Bowlers don't feel blood. There is still harmony between him and bowlers. While Sehwag makes the bowlers shiver.

Mr. President, My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist

The line has been said so many times in the movie. The directness with which SRK makes this point, is such trademark-ish of him.
Its very much like a short punch line like 'Be No Evil' for Google (are they??). But it makes more impact than any number of hard boiled intellectual debates, going to make.
Well, that has been SRK always. So, this is the better stuff he ought to do, more often. Thralled, Enthralled am I. its a bit filmy (read bollywood). But its really good. His best ever?? Yes may be. DDLJ comes close. just close.

Well, now some thing exciting. Exciting to me(maybe). I don't know how people watch cricket. How they conclude. Whatever I saw, from that, this collapse was a high possibility since morning. Morning session was a real tussle. Just like first round of boxing. And India were 1-3 or something. But score line was deceiving. India just did not get technical points. Simple.
It was coming. The batsmen were never allowed on auto-pilot. That's what Oz do all the time.
Many edges, misses. So, if you think that the 2 sessions were dominated by SA. I think you are not getting the 'subtle' game that the test cricket it.
That does not take away anything from the fact that 2 batters got deserving hundreds or our bowling troubles are not there (interconnected??).
They are there. But the fact is, our bowling does hold its own. Jugad, is the most amazing and the best word here.
So where this match is going. Any secretes? We are going to win. Except, for some extra-ordinary bowling. the chances of that are bleak. Only as much as of Sehwag making us to win first match(I said on that on day 2).
Alright, for now we have come from behind, equal. And that's the character. Don't loose hope. Don't write us off. We are NO 1 by jugad and probably we will be no 1 by 'Jugad', Oz will replace. Soon.

Post-Mortem

Well, everything went pretty to script. We did loose by an Innings, we did not bat out 4th day.
SA were too good. Or may be still are too good. For us. But there is a character of Indian team. Every time we went down, we came up higher. So, don't write us off.
Its difficult to see good things in adversity. But if one really looks in the hindsight, had we have batted first.
I dont know about Badri, but Vijay is here. Talent-wise. He played the best bowlings and always got out himself only, except Styne in first innings.
Again, you can see, why we are going to be struggling travelers. Dhoni. Not good enough batsman for really quality bowling. I dont know if anyone has noticed he still need to prove his test batting credentials. I remember only one Hendingley match saving innings by him.
Gambhir is also suffering against express pace. But, he should be back. Sooner or later. Suddenly, with Dravid and Laxman out and Gambhir not scoring ( highly unusal), ot batting looks mediocre.
But still the testimony of batting quality of India. Sachin late-cut-ed Styne. How good is each single run he scores. So beautiful.
Ah. we will come good. its a matter of time. They caught us sleeping.

Monday, February 8, 2010

Oh My God

No doubts, I am buying Stynes and Morkels. Alright, the balls that got Vijay and Sachin out were very very good. Very Very good. After such a looong time, we are seeing very high quality bowling.
So we need a tear away bowler. you see, Zak holds his own. But genuine pace is soo destructive. Ishant bowls 135Km these days. Major reason for his ineffectiveness. He used to be good. He needs pace.
Wait, Styne. After 'the name is Bond' Shane Bond, I am seeing this quality for the first time. And what's better? He is not fragile. Lovely.
No mjaor fault of batting. Its not that we don't have good batters. They are exceptional. But it was rusty. Just rusty. they are just not used to this good bowling. never mind. They will come good. This match, next match or maybe down under(this time I mean SA).
Ah. No major hope to save the test. Honestly, if not for some thing exceptional, we may loose by Innings. trust me. We are in for 'humiliation'. LOL. We will come good, sooner or later.
Ok, I'll be very happy but I dont see we bat out tomorrow. Again, I am not discounting India for one bad day. But invariably, our miraculous match saves have come on a good opening. And we are two down now.
Good things- Badri and Murali. They just don't seem out of place here.
bad things- SA showed how bad a bowling machine we are. Needs new parts than mere oiling. Gautam is not comfortable yet. And if you take Dravid out. He is supposed to be the player. Sachin averages 28 against SA at home. With 2 50s and zilch for hundreds column. Dhoni needs more years as a test batsman. He is Stephen Waugh sort of thing. And get Sreesanth man. He is as unpredictable as pakistan but he is the future bowler.
And one exceptional thing- Virender Sehwag, against every conceived theory of batsmanship, bats better to all the better bowlers on planet. Mendis on prime, Murali considering retiring, Styne who else. He has got fools faith. And he is amazing.

Hey, I am getting serious

And thats the bad part of it.
Almost disbelieved,it was fairly accurate. Zak, Prince and Duminy.
I don't know. Its hard to estimate the power of self-destruction of both teams.
Both side have equally good batting and there is a strong possibility of 0-0. Well, unless they are not put into a dust bowl or on a green top.
That does not mean we are getting on to a draw here. No. But only SA can win. And they only can loose. We need to see how good are Stynes and Morkels are in India. Its not discounting them but I am being like an investor who wants to see the company perform a bit before putting his money.
We'll see about that. We have got Saha instead of Rohit. Likes of Rohits, Duminys and Marshs are just bound to come good, sooner or later.
We'll see tomorrow but if India does not open well, it'll be VERY difficult to save the match. Leave or include 80% Sehwag factor, still the best India can do is to DRAW.
Enough for now, to be frank India can save the match 50%. Ishant finally is fine. Take him to SA or OZ, he will be a better bowler. Don't play him in One dayers or t20. 50% chance of draw is due to SLOW turn, the commentators talked again and again. Basically batsmen are having enough time to re-adjust. But one factor is needed to be seen is bounce. If it becomes unpredictable. SA will win.

And OZ showed yet once again. How the things are ought to be. They play to win. All matches. Every match. From every situation. They are so bullish about it. There is a thing to be learned. To approach life.

A Time to test myself

To my amazement, I have got it right so many times. Its just predictions so maybe at times, you are bound to 'predict' wrong. Ah..
India is playing SA and who is the favorite? There are too many similarities between the teams about the way they themselves go vertigo. Ahh..
Smith says India favorite. Lets see. Batters?
Prince is not in good form and so is JP Duminy. We have Badrinath and Vijay. If something terrible does not happen, we are not going to miss Dravid for a large part (as this is India only) and we are actually better missing YV. Both battings look impregnable but so often they do themselves in. So nothing to choose really here. Except that they have not got Sehwag and Dhoni. Rest, India match man to man except tailenders.End word- Neutral.
Bowlings: In India, we need to see how effective Styne and Morkel are going to be. Parnell.. They might open with him as he is the swing bowler they have. One thing is for sure, despite the pace, if these people do bowl back of length, reputations notwithstanding, Sehwag will chop them. They need to bowl fuller here. they have got only one reliable spinner,Dumniny. if the pacers don't bowl well, Harrises will be taken for a ride. Another factor is I am not sure how good these people bowl reverse swing. Looking at India, Ishant is giving hints of form. Zaheer is going to be No 1 pacer from both sides. So, if Ishant does not bowl wayward or rather hits proper length, India will be fine. But again, he can be the weak link. I think if SA does not attack him from the outset(consider track also), they are stupid. Best way to get rid of Ishant is to hit him out.

chapter 2 tomorrow maybe

What is this Marathi thing in Mumbai And I am being really boring

I have been there. For a weekend. My cousin who is a reporter for a TV channel, has got the Cab, Driver. So part work and a lot of fun. First day we had our very awesome lunch @ BCCI office canteen. Its MCC on Marine Drive. In the evening, it was cool air blowing from the sea and i said we get a beer. Cousin said not anywhere around. I stopped a taxi and asked. It was near. We got and had real fun till midnight. Mumbai is sometimes so cool that at 12 it was just like 10 of Delhi. Maybe Early.
It started next day. He showed me all sites related to 26/11 and took me to Irani cafe where they used to have tea while covering 26/11. we were going around Mumbai and I saw a strange thing. Every shop has its name in Marathi also. Along with English. It was different and I believed it should have be like that. In Hindi belt, people have inferiority complex for Hindi. You go to Punjab, they respect Punjabi and Kannadiga proud Kannadda. Yeah, at least they are not ashamed. So, it was good. Cousin told that it was done due to Raj Thakare, who threatened all showroom owners to change billboards and signboard to include Marathi also. Ahh it temporary relief.
While my cousin, is a bit(understatement) aggrasive, he said it was right. But in opinion, though it gave a good feeling but the way it was done, was not correct.

It may seem banal. I accept. But often we people dont think enough about it. What Thakareys are doing, gets a lot of support in Mumbai. Make no mistake, a lot of people support them. Except Hindi media or English Media that despises them. Ahh.. Maybe this is one of the ways to make things work in the country. The thing basically they are saying is not wrong. I take their point. Mumbai is a lot different that Delhi. There is fight for everything. If you think Delhi is over crowded, visit Mumbai. So basically they are saying that outsiders should not be allowed, anymore. Persians, Gujrati communities have always been the most prosperous communities their alongwith ubiquitious Pujabis also.
What these people are targeting is the Local Maratha Man who, has never been rich and hence never called the shots for anything in the city, despite being the majority there. So, the card they are playing is based on basically the inferiority complex of the local population. I am stretching it too much and getting away from point.

Its banal, its trite. but its correct. The way these so-called greats have taken basically shuts down the door for the debate. Doubt is a better choice than false sincerity for the democracy. its becoming mob-o-cracy. Agree or we'll beat you. Its just like Taliban without Kalashnikovs. Our country is seriously low on social IQ. I find these people and the people who are following them stupid. Maybe they are not really stupid. Actually its India and maybe I do not understand how to survive in the country. Our democracy is just 60 years old and maybe after 50 years, we can expect some sort of sincerity from the 'awaam'.
The problem with Congress has always being laid back. Or maybe British Inheritence of Divide and Rule. For that, they keep ignoring this very hazardous campaign. It pisses me off.
This way, our country can not go on. People have this strange belief that maybe things will work out. I am telling you that maybe this

IT HAS BECOME VERY BORING. LOL. So cut it.

my take on cricket (again) and my life

Long time, i have not had a post.
india is no 1 and chappell says its not sustainable. I don't know but its a difficult take. One thing i can tell you is that Medium to long term outlook is very very hopeful. Once Sachin and Dravid, Laxman get out of picture. tours of down under or SA will be very difficult for a while as players will not having any experience over there. The great Dravid had really bad time on first tour down under in 1999. Lanky hit 167 but he also took time to settle in batting. Dada had also hit unforgettable and maybe out of skin 144 in first match of 2004 tour. So, there will be problems. But one big thing we will be carrying is settled Openers which has, never been the case before. Also, India is sufficient bowling unit for tests. No one is really express, but on tracks with slightest help, our bowling holds. There is too much talk about bowling being weak link. Its not the case. Rather worry about batters. Once the trinity leaves the stage. it'll be a BIG void. Our bowlers just bowl on dead tracks. That's it. Two practice games on sporting tracks bring them in form. But the problem is our one day team can not bat on 'sporting' tracks. Soon, it may get repeated in tests also. Still there is a lot of hope. Murali Vijay has shown aptitude for No 3. Dhoni is fine. But Yuvi is like Eid for test matches. Fireworks twice an year. Cricinfo said this about Ashraful. So outlook is good. But No 1??? 1 line. Only OZ know how to win. Tey teach them in school. They don't defeat themselves. So still, they are tipped to be as No 1. Although not as dominant as they were.
About my life.. I am thinking. Its not getting anywhere. I sit in a cozy office. But pretty much a zombie out there. Not really sure of if this is what i should be doing. Makes me an average performer and i hate mediocrity. But, money is great de-motivator, if you keep getting enough money for the stuff you should not be doing. You feel hanged but you go there. lets see how far it goes.
Actually, I end up doing a lot of those things that i should not doing at all. Well, cut it, cut it.
