Cricket: Much Art Less Matter
what is so good about beating bowling disabled Oz. their best seamer was Shane Watson. piling up runs on dead tracks was very boring to watch. Krejza was impressive and reminded of old days of spin bowling. Shane Warne was the last one who bowled conventional loops. Like harbhajan of 2001 or mishra of mohali. lets see how far he goes. I like Sehwag bowling. Wish he becomes regular. the only good match to watch was mohali. good track. reward for good batting. reward of good bowling. Rest was why Test cricket is out of fashion. but frankly there are no reasons to be on high that we have beaten Oz. it was not the Oz we know. and remember, a defeat was not far either in banglore and nagpur.
Ishant is one of my current favourites. he can be the biggest thing since Sachin. a lot of other people had promise in past but Ishant is the most likely to deliever. with likes of McGrath and swing bowlers dominating, we had forgotten the what was the genuine tearing fast bowling after Allan donald or Ambrose and Walsh. tall, higher bounce, accurate, excellent seam delieveries. harminsons and flintoffs carry the art but are inconsistent.
now what do i call noise? dhoni- excellent leader(best) but i would like to see how good he bats in South Africa and Australia. Fab four are fab four bcuz they scored all over the world against every kind of attack. same with Yuvraj. Satan @ dead tracks but he cant play quality spin. As Simple As That. He must work that out. and he does not have good record when the bowl seams around. Habhajan singh always bowls flat.
and what is so great about scoring 387 on one sided track. where bowler thinks that he bowled a good over as long as he's not been hit for a boundary. today was a better track. see i like to see a competition. between bat and bowl. one sided contests re turn offs. like recent test series.
and now bowling comparisons. Indian new ball attack is sure no2. Oz is third only when lee is on form. and where clark is potent(not in india). English attack looks so better with Broad. he was bowling well in England. but so did debasis mohanti. he is a good prospect and unusually for England, he is just 22. perhaps, what i am trying to say is that there will be better cricket with England around than Oz. test cricket is cricket and one dayers and T20 are the interfaces for people who do not understand cricket(but all the money).
and i forgot to tell that Yusuf Pathan can be India's Symonds. today could be just he the trailer of a academy award sweeper.

Hinduism and terrorism
So many times, we remember the abstract concepts and forget the basics. and sadly yet comically, we dont realize when they have started contradicting each other. this is called blunder and fetches a failure in exam.
the religion and humanity can be respectively abstract and basic concepts. the contradiction is wide open and its amazing that people can not see it. this blunder has divided us before and its one of the greatest threat to us as a nation.
there is new brand of terror that is Hindu Terrorism. that is 'good' as per BJP. this is 'nationalistic'. How much it can get complicated just to define brutal murder of innocent public. You or Me, walking though for evening shopping and a dustbin blasts off and some people get killed. and some people joke around themselves that his bomb has killed more people than other's. As if you or me are some toys. or some people are more deserving to be a human than us. Religion teaches us compassion for other people. If anybody thinks that other people are less human, in my understanding, that is the only reason one can justify with killing some unknown innocent person; its simply a delusion. and in a society, one is free to have delusions, but listen, as long as it doesn't conradicts with my freedom to live my way.
when we turn nationalistic in kashmir, we forget to be human. if one reads stories of people who lived there or people of Punjab in 80s, perhaps one can understand. the movie Machis by Gulzar or there is a movie by Ashok Pandit(?? a kashmiri pandit) on the forced exile of pundits from valley. What is the pain if someone outsider rules without needing to answer about his actions like the Police in Punjab or army in Kashmir. not very different from Anarchy.
What.. exactly what can be the justification of Hindu bomb. That tit fot tat??
I am sorry but you have forgotten to be a human. that you can not see the person who is getting killed is some innocent child or woman. Or an old man. or some working class person whose children go to school. who will be held responsible for their uncalled struggle for living, rather going to school. If you pick a rifle and shoot a terrorist, that can be understood. but everybody is not a terrorist. who will take care of a person who becomes disble for life??
That then who will be responsible for Hindu children?? obviously, Muslim terrorism is a term in which if remove word 'Mulsim' its understood that all terrorism is Muslim. Muslims need to a do a lot of soul searching. I read about a national Uloom (???)convention in Hyderabad of all clerics called for national integretion. and to make amendments and declaring terrorist acts anti-Islamic. it brings a bit of good feeling. but the rust runs deep into religion and calls for a kind of movement.
Now, suddenly there is new radical Hindu face. more dangerous than anticipated. 'Sadhu' is supposed to be beyond wordly things. and sarcastically, they are involved in blasts.
If anybody has doubts where this radical avtars of religions are heading, must get informed of the history, and present as well. Nazism, fasism, even marxism(russia didn't even have currency for several years), KKK in USA are the ideas deep buried. some ideas are not yet buried. presently, look at afganistan, pakistan, African Muslim countries. or the naxalites, maoists. or even the Salwa Judum(a radical movement against naxalites). the Idea has invariably backfired.
we need to take a lesson. and we need to condemn these kind of things. strongly. killing of innocent public never can be justified. as clear.

somedays one might always want to remember
its sad to find that people even in cities ignore studies.. studies for women is 'against religion' in islam.. so they told me on 2ond or 3rd day that if they can practice 'integrity' they might continue studies till 12th or till they get married.. and that their brothers dont want them to study.. one (call R)gets threats that he will kill her.. (not kidding) but her father is supporting.. and wants her to study.. and i found her atleast engineering material.. only that i called her father.. she went to Madarsa till 5th and knew urdu, farsi.. poor english.. then she said she was ill for 3 years and then her mother was in bed after her youngest brother' birth.. for 3 years more.. so she skipped school.. again not kidding.. i had a right guess about her father and mother.. both were illitrate.. it was ignorance on their part.. i asked Mr. Riyasat Saifi if anybody had ever told him that she was a good student.. he said no.. i told him that she is.. and to take care of her studies.. and make sure she doesn't miss school.. he agreed and was happy with what i said.. i even told him that she might fail this time becuz time is less but don't take her out of school.. he was a humble person.. and loving father and said he will take care.. problem is that R is the eldest child and bears several responsibilities.. well catch is i didn't inform the co-ordinator that i had called her parents and that didn't go well with them..
SH is another confident girl but her brother threatens her too.. i dont know why..
SG is better prepared than others but she is a follower of Cramming philosophy.. phew..
SV is a very shy Hindu girl.. one day i tightened her and next day she went missing.. she was brought back after a visit to her home.. got mind but absolutely no aptitude for studies.. she was getting better each day..
NH is naughty and never concentrates..
first day i was teaching them a lesson about women empowerment.. Muslim backdrop in lesson.. i was a bit perplexed and asked them after lesson if i told them anything wrong?? they said no..
and poems about krishna... narottam dass and soordas.. and civics.. it is odd thing for people who have no general awareness.. and everybody lacked it.. i started explaining them the concept of a family to a community to a city and hence to a country.. and then constitution.. huh.. 3 days.. 3 repetitions.. 6 hours..
federalism and democarcy and secualrism.. these topics went on and on.. again and again..
i find myself into a rare catagory(around me) these day.. better than working hindi and somewhat working english.. so medium of study hardly matters..if i am not teaching language at higher levels..
so the discussions evolved.. topics revolved around need of constitution and its features.. and assginment included obama and malegaon blasts.. and cricket.. and kashmir.. and religion..
and my insistence that they must keep on studies as long as possible..
it appeared that they got me.. R gave a small golden Ganesha(great gesture??) and 3 others pens.. and poor NH and SV smiles.. SV brought me some snacks.. she's not been able to buy books.. i m looking at matter.. nice gestures.. all promised to study as far as possible.. they themselves said.. i didn't ask.. and i told them i'll not use their pens.. i'll keep them with me..
it was heartwarming as i was not considering going to school today.. but went there to say them goodbye.. and got my gifts.. it was 11 or 12 days only i went there.. there a sense of achievement.. predictable with me; i forgot my part and didn't give them any treat..
R says she wants to become an Aalia or Aalima(urdu teacher).. and given her background, it would be great.. she got 98 in urdu.. i know how to write my name in urdu.. full name..
why religion is mentioned about each student is that while only poor hindu girls were there but muslim girls were from capable but ignorant or unwilling families..
that is their real problem.. just that they are not realizing that lower education rate is and will be dragging the community back economically too..
i dont want this to be true but increasingly i feel there cud be some analogy with nazism.. its not much different.. and fathers want them to study and brothers threaten.. radical youth.. like the financial meltdown.. it can get overlooked but sooner or later.. there will be decisive global war on muslim fundamentalism.. becuz whole world is a direct contradiction with muslim fundamentalism.. radical govts are getting elected.. iran.. indonesia.. even Pakistan who once had Benazir.. is under threat of taliban like things.. HuJI political wing is getting foothold in Bangladesh..
umm umm.. over..

Jinhe Naaz Hai Hind Par
Very few songs when remade retain quality. the old one from Pyasa was a generation defining song. 1957 was the year, the movie released.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyaasa
Music of the movie is breathtaking (understatement??). Every song still has a cult status. now to take this song is quite a courage (except that Himesh takes it). I can go on with the things why i am such a big fan of Gurudutt. kaagaz ke phool is rated the best by Amitabh Bacchhan and me and my cousin. (a wiki fact Rajendra Prasad, president that time, came out of movie deeply offended) leave that. leave that. but this song was the manifestation of the anger and disappointment post freedom.
When Rabbi plays Jan-Gan-Man in backdrop of the song, each cell of the skin starts reacting. astonishing video. in 2002 or 3 , i started reading Indian Express. it had some good cricket related columns and had excellent match reports. one day, on the front page(finally the front page), a news related to Satyendra Dubey was given. Golden-Quad project of Vajpeyee Govt was in much news. it turned out to me that the paper was infact running a story(series) (in box) with daily updates and was taking the whole follow up of the case. i checked other papers(HT, ToI,Hindu, and one more i am able to recall in hostel), the news was almost absent. it took almost a month for other papers(or maybe the issue was hotting up). and within 2 or 3 monthes there was the case of Monu at lakhimpur kheri in UP. the newspaper was following up passionately. since then, i am reading this paper. i remember when i was staying in Indirapuram, one retired Military man saw me with the paper. he came to me and said hey no one from your generation reads this paper(complimented me). it has agin gone to some wrong direction.
rabbi has done pretty bad with chhalla. which is (or form) also the cult. it lacks the energy that Gurdas mann had put into this song. but this is forgiven from me as this song jinhe naaz hai hind par, i am falling in love with.
some fool had rated the music of Delhi Heights poor in HT. Rabbi is one of the finest artists. Music and Lyrics a lot of people talk about. Somehow i liked tere bin more than Bulla ki jana main kon. maybe the wadali bro effect. it just doesn't get off head. there is distinct chill in his voice. no one arround sings like him. absolutely no one.
problem is that the chill that made this song jinhe naaz hai super class act, messed the chhalla.
still hats off.. he sung it better than me.

ya Elahi ye majra kya hai??
akhir is dard ki dawa kya hai
ya Elahi ye majra kya hai"
today when i opened paper, a yahoo employee was caught for (involvement in) Indian Mujahideen's terror acts. compensation 19 lacs. a neighbourhood old man was talking on TV. he was saying that his(mansoor is his name??)father is a close friend of him. and he cud never think of such involvement. he could also foresee a conspiracy in it. other highly qualified people were also captured.
this looks strange at first but there is logic behind this class taking part in such acts. young blood is hot. its not possible to convince a 40 or 50 years old person. i have talked about aleination and problems with this. today this alienation is more prominent than 20 or 30 years back.
muslims are today more insecure society than ever before. that makes a catalyst for such brainwash.
this can be a temporary phase. but this jihad mentality is in evolution phase. the problem i found here is that such acts are causing further alienation. situations are getting worse. maybe it has come to US versus THEM or it'll come soon. what is happening in such case is that if i have to make a choice then it is clear which side i'll be. and same can be said about any ordinary muslim because he'll feel safer with his own community. people who had make this choice are creating further divide.
maybe someday we'll get over this just like other things in past like Khalistan.
and maybe we'll not. HuJI in bangladesh has started a political wing whose manifesto says that it'll work to bring back Shariyat of 7th century. this sounds insane to anybody else than muslims.
i dont know but if Islam is too rigid a religion to accomodate any change. every progressive thing apears like attack on their culture. Male polygamy cud had been a nice idea for Hajrat Mohammad's time but today its absurd. same goes for Jihad(for its original contexts in tribal wars.) Now US and Indian cultures are HARAM and they are Declared biggest enemies of Islam.
What is the reason that a religion is going back to further past?? remember it was not always same before 90s.
i dont know.. i dont know...
Amar singh is saying that Delhi encounter was fake and maybe Delhi police itself killed Sharma and he will provide legal support to people who were caught there in jamianagar. The Jamia University is also 'suspecious' about the encounter. this is called national shame that even acts of terrors can not unite the nation's political leaders.
Now listen to this. In parliament attack case, son(??) of Sayed Gilani(Hurriyat leader) was given capital punishment from lower court and SC found him innocent. When Dr. Haneef's case in Australia was in limelight, i read a artical written by a senior journo in HT based on telephonic conversation between him and Gilani son. He told our journo about details of hearing.his crime was that some 'Objectionable Documents' were found on his hard drive. He told Jury that he downloaded it from a site and anybody can download it. Judge asked police and they sent a request to IT ministry if they cud download it. they replied negatively. gilani asked judge to bring the computer and that he cud download it in front of jury. on next hearing, a computer was brought in courtroom. complication was that it needed Internet. for that a telephone connection was also needed. Judge Aggarwal(??) said he wont let happen any act against country in his court. so mr. Gilani is found guilty. no wonder what SC did.
this happens in a court based on laws of objective evidences.
no way i can support such generalizations. its sad for muslims as an increasingly alienated community WRT to the whole world infact. but is Jihad the answer?? is the reaction by such educated youth justified??
here in this world, everybody needs to do soul searching. but some need it more than others. no mistakes, i am talking about Muslims. no liberal leadership. radical youth. conservative(too much) religion.

various artists
1)monica bedi- zee news was showing some letters of her which she apparantly written to abu salem from jail. i think most of us thought her as of an opportunist in bollywood whose plans had gone wrong. with her appearance on bigg boss and the content of her letters to salem. my view is changed and i thnk she shud sue the channel for breaching her privacy. all that has appeared on show or by her letters is that she was in love with him. thats all. i dont approve this is being scandlized and is being projected as some taboo thing. shit.. this is shit.. there are looking for just some spice. i think she shud sue them. she has every right to to hide certain things and to try to start a life again.
2)naredra modi- hardliner.. i read in newpaper after last gujrat election that he won without and despite RSS. this is unprecendent in history of the party. the only thing i like about him is that he is decisive. and we need decisive leadership. advani maybe the current candidate for PM but he is most probable future of the party. it'll be a sad precendence if he becomes a PM. there is a certain grace assosiated with the post and right now he is more of a hardliner. he needs to be more inclusive in his strategy. and i fear he just may...
3) manmohan singh- he is the rahul dravid. he brought globalization which changed the whole lifestyle of the country. and he brought 123. there are many critics. i have a simplification. our status has become higher now. we are a legitimate N-Power state. and most importantly, this is the best offer we cud had. what do we expect? the world gives us N-Power status for no reason. see we got to trade off things. and this is the best trade possible we cud had done.
to be continued.....

Sab Ulta Pulta hai.. lol USA going Socialist
wonder of wonders.. there is no other term to describe that.
US has been the biggest supporter of free markets and free economy. a lot is going on in news about the sub prime crisis. now US has realized that this is infact Catastrophic. so mother of all bail outs. i am not an expert but this amuses me.
The Fed Reserve is buying bad debts of banking sector. By the taxpayers' money. funny, isn't that.
ironically this is what socialist govt is supposed to do. capitalists say that doing business is not the Govt's job. govt is to regulate. so unprecendent move in unprecendent circumstances as per bush.
fashions do come back. russia-china are privatizing and US is socializing.
anything, ANYTHING can happen in this world. i just pray it works. we are already in for a long haul and this can get longer.

Story of a pir and a temple
it was a long back.. i used to play @ the ground YSC nearby. This pir kinda thingy was used to get relieved by most of us as it provides a bit of hide from the road. two three seasons later it was used as a wicket to avoid the need of a wicketkeeper. the place was prone to encroachments by nearby ladies who used our ground for their dung-cake warehouses. soon we shifted to Janta school playground(which is adjacent to crematory of the town a story itself although othertime).
my cousins have a place just opposite to this pir thing. and we used to dump the beer bottles and other things behind this pir.
somehow this pir has just become a sacred place. i saw it was pretty decorated as well. a lady from the neighbourhood has seen this pir riding a blue(?) horse arround the place in midnight. to cut a long story short, pir has become a bit famous off late.
to be frank i have no reason to explain this. but its fame can be dangerous for my cousins' place which is just opposite to this thing.
BUT the TEMPLE.. i know the hypocricy. while travelling NH-ONE 20-25 minute down the dilli border one can see a sleek black tower kindda thing which is Kali Maa Ka Mandir(KMKM). also been erected in recent times. one of my friend who is from nearby village took me to it. i saw a goon kindda thing who was Pujaree..(lol, forgive me friends). a lot of people come barefeet or walking 3 KMs on saturday, its distance from the town. i was lying at friend's tubewell, where some uncle came arround. and he told me the story of the place.(friend was away). that this goon was made to run away from his native where he was caught supplying narcotics. he took this place, collected donations , and despite scams, built this KMKM thing. the place is still used for this narcotics business besides the income of the KMKM.
yeasterday i was watching News24 headlines which among Bhihar floods, Nuclear supplier group(NSG) and Dhoni, also said SHANI ke KAAL SE BACHNA MUSHKIL.
i got my answer. Nobody can help India. LOLz.

JUDGEMENT DAY...???
What else then.. financial matters.. i dont think i have enough skill over there to comment over them. page 3 and things like splitsvilla are such turn off than my saliva turns bitter with just the mention of the name. i am perhaps retarded. soon i think we'll have a reality show about mother-son turning incest. does that leave a bitter taste in your mouth? fuck this stuff.. i just watch only one scene. and it left such taste in my mouth.
and i am back to the JUDGEMENT DAY. cricket..lol.. i have made a lot of observations. and i am quite sure that if anything really terrible doesn't happen tomm. India will capture series tomm itself. i may talk a bit more after the match or the series... but Mahela was looking hurt yesterday after the loss. he said... we overattacked.. huh.. i dont agree with his observation. it was a good track to bat. they will be confused. i think it will be foolish on their part to ask Mendis or Murali to bowl flat. Get this.. SL may be playing at India's hand probably now. when India won CB series, this is the mistake Oz made infact. suddenly they were confused if to attack or to defend. Punter said after first final that guys are disappointed of shot selection. actually they got out playing attacking shots off good balls. so.. what different Sri-Lanka is going to do. we'll see.. we'll see..
Gambhir's batting was careless.. i heard about drift in the team.. i dont thing this is the right thing.. there can be internal conflicts. but if you are in playing 11 then you must give 100%. i dont think he was 100%. raina batted well, he was more sensible in later part of innings. but his way of starts baffles me. two mishit fours. both pulls. later he avoided those. Mendis finally spared Yuvi.. because he was out before. Rohit batted well. and i think despite bad form, he can be a core player of next WC. Badri looked in control before just one false shot got him out. i think he should remain in team.
Vintage Zak was one big differnece between teams in bowling departments. the way he is getting Sangakara, reminds me of RSA tour. he got Smith out 3-4 times very cheaply off very similar line n lenght we'll see we''ll see.. i am becoming a fan of thushara. he is an attacking bowler as well as a handy bat down the order. but i think they have too many problems up the order.
i call this judgement day because i feel its more difficult to beat SL @ home than Oz. they have atleast better tracks. anyway Premadasa IS a good track.

sunday august 03,2008
two events i noticed today. one is Razzak who is a carpenter and another is cricket.
Razzak, is semi-old-aged artist(he is). he came to fix up our rear bathroom door and sofa. came in the morning and after inspection, he said he'll come 2 hours later. i met him yesterday at his workplace. i remember once before i had met him and and he hadn't been interested in our lill work and i had a lill word with him. but this time, i being more diplomatic, greeted him with respect at his workshop. he recognized me immidiately though some people at my place whom i visit regularly were failing this time(year). he came later in the evening. i was finding his behaviour a bit odd. a bit circumspect. he is a fine(and perhaps only one here) worker. i found him a bit unsure. well that was a just some feeling i had no justification of. he was a bit over-friendly then he used to be. soon i found out why. twice he used the word 'Bharat' and 3-4 times he used 'Bhagwan'. now Bharat could be understood (just maybe) as he might be reading hindi newspaper too often(i frankly just guess). but he said 'Bhagwan aaj garmi karvayega'. i immidiately got his point. he was a bit unsure. unsafe. ours is a predominantly Hindu population with very very few muslims. i had some friends in my primary school. 2 girls and a boy. one girl was a bit old and other girl and boy were of same age. this girl was very sharp at studies, boy was average and the old girl(lol, old girl in primary school) possibally studied only till 8th standard. the sharp girl(i mean the sharpest of the lot) who stood high positions at district level was admitted to Govt Girls School in 6th standard. she was friends with my cousin sister(same age) who is remarkably poor at studies. 3-4 years back i came to know that the girl got married(i dont know if she graduated or not but she was a science student for sure i know.) she used to visit my cousin and we had a sarcastic smile when she told us that she had a child. the guy was struggling in 12th standard 4-5 years back. that was the last update about him. but we were very comfortable. not quite like razzak this evening. and i felt very strange when muslim boys of our class in college used to support pakistan. i was something i could not imagine. those 3-4 guys used to share some friendship i guess just because of they are minority-->insecurity. so as i grew old the perception about the religion is changing in my mind.
we were same at primary school. then we went to better school and they made conservative choices. my cousin is still doing fashion designing despite her 'talent'. it seems they live in different world. now increasingly the muslims are getting radical as one can see that very educated and young muslims are taking part in anti-social activities. their increasing isolation (even here) and kind of ghettoisation. the kind of confidence(the lack of) and unsurity i saw today got me thinking for a while. this is a big social move i reckon whose results will be seen once new generation of muslims appears. if razzak is unsure today, i expect his grandson to be radical. and if even that is radical like this, its a worring thing. things change too quickly very often. it seems i think too much. but certainly i didn't like it today. i remember a song which a poor Paki channel plays here..Ye Hum Nahi.. its about terrorism. nice song and when i watched it i though umm.. oo really... Ye Hum Nahi.. i guess thats enough comment on that.
cricket. so india won this time. it always seemed one horse race once 37 runs lead of the first innings and sehwag-gambhir partnership. 250 at max could had been, just could had been chased. although again a late innings collapse but i think it was a one horse race. I always like watching Ishant bowling. the way he bowled to samaraweera and dilshan was remarkable. he was consistently beating them. i saw all 9(if thats right) overs on the trot he bowled to ponting at sidney. and finally got him caught at second slip. thats why i always like test cricket(if its not a flat track). that gives the true measure of the player. thats like XXX rum and one day is like lager beer. like sehwag. such good player and i feel he is at home in tests and one days get too big for him. there he tries to score quick. poor guy. like yesterday, when vaas got sachin. you just cant see it in one dayers or T20.
i always believed the real challenege is to win the series now. given the heavy defeat in first test india played to potential. it is a comprihensive victory. but do they have the fire to win series?? capability-wise they should. but first we should see the track.
SA have won series. pietersen never looked so patchy to me. still he got 94. SA got great new ball attack. i rate them best in the world. India should be rated No2. OZ come third and that is their problem. wait and watch, it'll be more prominent.
